In a major step taken up towards retaining belief in democracy, total 175 constables were dismissed from Patna police for involving in violent activities on Sunday.
The Inspector General of police, Patna said that out of the 175 dismissed constables almost half of them were women including 167 trainees .
The issue arised over the death of a fellow constable, Savita Pathak, who according to the dismissed persons had been compelled to attend her duty despite severe health conditions, for which she had to succumb to death.
Blaming the authorities for compelling her to attend duty despite illness the dismissed constables went on to vandalise furniture inside the police station and turn over vehicles on the street.
The IGP general also added that
departmental action was in addition to FIRs had been lodged against those who had involved in indiscipline, going against the police norms.
Four FIRs were lodged in connection to the incident.One of FIRs was lodged by Mohammad Masaluddin, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, who was allegedly assaulted and chased to his residence by the violent constables.
Meanwhile, in reaction to the incident
Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had lost control over the law and order machinery in the state.
