Guwahati, Assam – 13th September 2024: In celebration of Hindi Pakhwada, Kendriya Vidyalaya IOC Noonmati hosted the innovative Shabd-Rang Poetry Poster Workshop on 13th September 2024. The event, organized under the leadership of Principal Mrs. Dolly Das, was designed to reflect the core principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on experiential learning and creative expression.
A total of 70 students participated in the workshop, combining their artistic and literary talents to create visually stunning posters. Each poster featured poetry from 70 renowned Indian poets, carefully selected under the guidance of the school’s Art Teacher and Programme Coordinator, Mr. Kaushalesh Kumar. Through this initiative, students deepened their connection to India’s literary heritage while developing critical thinking, creativity, and cultural awareness.
The event was graced by Shri Naresh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Regional Office, Guwahati, who attended as the Chief Guest. He commended the workshop for embodying the spirit of NEP 2020 and praised the innovative approach of integrating art and literature. Shri Naresh Kumar also noted that such initiatives should serve as a model for Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country.
Principal Mrs. Dolly Das expressed her pride in the success of the workshop, stating that it effectively promoted emotional and intellectual growth among students by seamlessly integrating art and literature. She highlighted that the program exemplified how NEP 2020 objectives can be achieved through experiential learning and creativity.
Programme Coordinator Mr. Kaushalesh Kumar emphasized the importance of innovation in art education. He noted that the students not only created beautiful posters but also experienced deep emotional connections with the poems they depicted, providing insights and inspiration that will stay with them for life. He further mentioned that the workshop aligned perfectly with the core components of NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), promoting holistic development, interdisciplinary education, creativity, vocational skills, and life skills.
Special recognition was given to Mrs. Richa Shukla, an English teacher, for her contribution in selecting the poems for the workshop. Students created posters based on the works of prominent poets such as Prayag Shukla, Vinod Bhardwaj, Akhilesh Nigam, Sadanand Shahi, Dr. Ritu Pallavi, Ramkumar Panigrahi, Babusha Kohli, Sonam Pandey, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rabindranath Tagore, and many others.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, acknowledging the efforts of all those involved. The event was moderated by Mrs. Jyoti Negi, with active participation from teachers including Mr. N.D. Sharma, Mr. Abhay Raut, Mr. Harishankar Dey, Mr. Giriraj Meena, Madhumita Dev, Lakshika Raheja, Anuradha Banerjee, and Mr. Jitendra Singh.
The Shabd-Rang Poetry Poster Workshop has set a new benchmark for creative education, inspiring similar initiatives across the country. This transformative experience has further highlighted the value of integrating art and literature into the learning process, paving the way for more innovative educational programs in the future.
