In its Continuous efforts to empower local communities while promoting health and fitness, the Indian Army dedicated an Open Air Gymnasium under Operation Sadbhavana on 26 November 2024, at Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur District. The facility addresses the lack of accessible fitness infrastructure in the region, fulfilling the long-standing demands of residents from Phougakchao and neighboring villages.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by around 150 locals including the Village Chief of Phougakchao Ikhai along with chiefs of adjacent villages and members of the community. The new gymnasium is equipped with modern outdoor fitness equipment, including an Air Walker, Double Elliptical Trainer, two Single Chest Press machines, two Single Shoulder Press machines, a Sit-Up Trainer, Arms etc. In addition, various recreational activities were also conducted for the locals. This initiative is a significant step towards promoting a culture of physical fitness and well-being among the local youth and residents as it inspires healthier lifestyles and contribute to the holistic development of the community.
