Palasbari, December 8: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over the ceremonial ‘bhumi pujan’ for the highly anticipated Palasbari-Sualkuchi 4-lane extradosed bridge over the Brahmaputra River. This landmark project, spanning 12.21 kilometers, is designed to connect Palasbari on National Highway 17 on the southern bank with Sualkuchi on the Bongshar-Sualkuchi Road on the northern bank through a greenfield alignment.
The bridge is expected to significantly enhance urban growth and boost connectivity in the western Kamrup Metropolitan District, creating a direct link between key regions. This development aligns with the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering economic opportunities across Assam.
During the event, CM Sarma emphasized the project’s potential to transform regional connectivity while paving the way for robust economic development. The bridge’s completion is projected to unlock new possibilities for trade, tourism, and urban expansion, benefiting both banks of the Brahmaputra.
The Palasbari-Sualkuchi bridge has been touted as a strategic infrastructure initiative, poised to become a critical link in Assam’s burgeoning transportation network.
