Guwahati: Sweta Thakuria, a proud daughter of Guwahati, Assam, has etched another milestone in her journey by winning the title of Mrs. Graceful and securing 4th Runner-Up at the prestigious Mrs. India Pride of Nation 2024. Held at the luxurious JW Marriott Hotel, Aerocity, the event celebrated the stories of resilient, talented women breaking barriers and pursuing their dreams with passion and determination.

Sweta’s life story is a testament to hope, hard work, and unwavering faith. She completed her schooling at St. Mary’s English High School, Guwahati, where her passion for dance and crafts first blossomed. After completing her 12th grade at Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, Guwahati, she went on to pursue a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Girijananda Institute of Management and Technology, Guwahati. Her academic dedication was rewarded when she secured the 9th position across Guwahati University, a testament to her brilliance and perseverance.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and excellence, Sweta pursued a career in IT, working as an IT professional for the past eight years in Bengaluru. Despite coming from a family of doctors, Sweta charted her own course by entering the IT field, where she has flourished professionally. While her career soared, she never lost sight of her creative passions. Inspired by her first ramp walk at a college fest—where she won Miss Catwalk and 2nd Runner-Up—Sweta held onto the dream of walking the ramp again, a dream she fulfilled through the platform of Mrs. India Pride of Nation.

In an exclusive interview, Sweta told Guwahati Times, “I was introduced to the world of modeling during my engineering college fest, where we had a ramp walk event. Though I had many doubts at first, the happiness and satisfaction I felt after walking the ramp ignited a spark within me and planted the dream of pursuing modeling.”

Family Support and Encouragement
Sweta credits much of her success to her family’s unwavering support. “My family has always supported me in pursuing what I love and finding happiness in what I do. Even though I come from a family of doctors, they encouraged me to follow my passion, which led me to a career in IT and to living my dream by winning this crown. I know their support will always be with me in everything I choose to do.”

Founded by the inspiring Barkha Nangia, Mrs. India Pride of Nation is not just a pageant—it’s a powerful movement that empowers married women to reclaim their strength, break societal barriers, and boldly pursue their dreams. With a focus on social causes such as breast cancer awareness, it motivates women to lead healthier, more empowered lives. Sweta’s crowning moment became even more memorable when she received her title from Barkha Nangia, accompanied by Shweta Gaurish.

Reflecting on her achievement, Sweta shared:
“If we have the passion, will, and determination to pursue our dreams, they will become a reality. Never give up, stay focused, and always remember: rising from the bottom is the most empowering journey of all.”

Message for the People of Assam
“To all the people of Assam, especially the women, remember that where you come from or your background doesn’t define your future. What truly matters is your willpower to never give up and the courage to turn your dreams into reality. The journey to success is never easy—it’s filled with challenges and triumphs. But at the end of the day, it’s the journey you’ll cherish, with all its thorns and beautiful moments. Learn to rise from the lowest points with determination and stay grounded in your highest achievements, because humility is a strength often overlooked. Most importantly, it’s never too late to dream. Believe in yourself, take that step, and turn your dreams into reality.”

Victory and Gratitude
Sweta’s victory is not just hers—it’s a triumph for everyone who has stood by her, especially her family. She remarked, “This victory is not just mine, it’s a victory for everyone who has stood by me, especially my family, who have been incredibly supportive throughout this journey.”

It feels like a dream come true for Sweta. “This journey has been long and challenging, especially because I’ve held onto this dream for 13 years. Winning the crown today fills me with a sense of achievement, but also a deep responsibility. A crown is not just about glamour—it’s about making a meaningful impact on society.”

Sweta is deeply grateful to the visionary Barkha Nangia for creating Mrs. India Pride of Nation, a platform that empowers married women to break barriers, reclaim their strength, and chase their dreams. “I’m deeply grateful to the visionary Barkha Nangia for creating Mrs. India Pride of Nation, a platform that empowers married women to break barriers, reclaim their strength, and chase their dreams. Favorite Food
Sweta’s favorite food is simple but comforting: “My absolute favorite is a simple yet comforting plate of rice, dal, and aloo fry—it’s pure joy for me! And sometimes, I love indulging in aloo pitika, which brings back so many warm memories. It’s a true taste of home and happiness!”

Sweta’s inspiring journey is a shining example of the power of belief, perseverance, and hard work.
