32nd Assam State Aquatic Championship – End of Day Two

Guwahati, July 3 – The second day of the 32nd Assam State Aquatic Championship, held at Dr. Zakir Hussain Aquatic Complex, in 2nd day 60 events being completed. Talented swimmers from across the state showcased their aquatic skills, competing with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

At 3 PM, Assam’s Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Nandita Garlosa, graced the event as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives for the development of aquatic sports. These include infrastructural improvements, quality training, and schemes like “Khel Maharan” which aim to promote and support budding athletes, enabling them to represent Assam at national and international levels.

Following this, national-level swimmers Jananjay Jyoti Hazarika and Tirthank Pegoo, who have earned a spot in the Indian team for the upcoming World Junior Aquatic Championship, were felicitated by the Minister. Medalists from recent national events, Aastha Choudhury and Jahnabi Kashyap, were also honored.

The medal distribution ceremony was conducted in the presence of several distinguished guests, including Antara Gogoi (Joint Director, Sports & Youth Welfare Department), Bakul Kalita (Sports Officer), Deb Hazarika (Vice President, Assam Swimming Association), Chandan Jyoti Phukan (Joint Secretary), Mukuteswar Goswami (Publicity Secretary), Navjyoti Gogoi (Secretary, Kamrup District Swimming Association), and Rajiv Sharma and Monika Choudhury from Jorhat Swimming Society.

The final day of the championship will be held on July 4, featuring diving and water polo competitions as the major highlights.
