Azara, April 30: The 32nd foundation day of Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) was observed by APCU Kamrup Metro District committee at Lankeshwar on Wednesday.
For observing this year’s foundation day, the APCU Kamrup Metro District Union members gathered at the Lankeshwar Durga Mandir premises on Wednesday morning. The APCU flag was hoisted by its Kamrup Metro District president, Ratan Kalita. Thereafter, APCU Kamrup Metro District secretary Abhijit Kalita addressed the APCU members. In his speech, Kalita praised the initiative taken by the APCU for the benefit of the journalists of Assam.
President Ratan Kalita urged the government to make the health insurance process of journalists very peak. He also said that APCU in its 32-year history had sacrificed a lot for the welfare of journalists.
It may be stated here that the committee also visited the residents of five prominent social workers who have made special contributions to the society of the area and felicated by the team.
