Itanagar: Security forces have seized a cache of arms and ammunition in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, police said on Thursday.
The arms and ammunition, suspected to have been hidden by insurgents, were seized from Miao Bum area on Wednesday by a team comprising jawans from the Army’s 9 Rajputana Rifles and state police personnel, Changlang Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo said.
An AK-56 assault rifle, three magazines, 115 rounds of 7.62 mm cartridge, a 40 mm under-barrel grenade launcher, a hand grenade, four stick powder-gel explosive weighing around 500 gm, one .22 pistol and several other explosive materials were found, the SP said.
Based on an FIR lodged by the 9 Rajputana Rifles, a case has been registered with the Miao police station and the matter is under investigation, Gambo added. -PTI
