Itanagar, August 24, 2026: Arunachal Pradesh athlete Hillang Yajik has been selected to represent India at the 58th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship 2026, marking a major achievement for the state in international bodybuilding and physique sports.
According to the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF), Yajik has been named to Team IBBF for the championship, which is scheduled to be held from September 22 to 28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Yajik will compete in the Senior Women Model Physique up to 165 cm and Women One Piece Swimsuit up to 165 cm categories.
The Arunachal athlete has an impressive record at the national and regional levels. She previously won gold in the Women’s Model Physique up to 155 cm category at the South Asian Championships in Thimphu, Bhutan. She has also secured gold at the Federation Cup and has won the Miss Fitness Arunachal Pradesh title multiple times.
Her selection for the Asian championship is being seen as a significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh and further highlights the growing participation of athletes from the Northeast in bodybuilding and physique sports on the international stage.
Yajik’s participation in Bangkok will also provide an opportunity to showcase the sporting talent emerging from Arunachal Pradesh on a major Asian platform.
