Assam CM Himanta Inaugurates ₹81-Crore Integrated Kamrup (M) DC Office in Guwahati

Guwahati, August 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Integrated District Commissioner’s Office of Kamrup (Metropolitan) at Rupnagar in Guwahati.

Constructed at a cost of ₹81 crore, the new facility spans approximately 12,695 square metres and brings several key administrative and public service departments under one roof.

The integrated complex is aimed at streamlining administrative processes and making government services more accessible to residents of Kamrup Metropolitan district.

The inauguration is part of the Assam government’s broader initiative to transform District Commissioner’s offices across all 35 districts into more people-centric administrative centres, with a focus on improving governance, coordination and service delivery.

Chief Minister Sarma had attended the bhumi pujan ceremony for the project in 2023. The facility was initially estimated to cost around ₹58 crore and was planned as a G+2 structure to accommodate various departments functioning under the District Commissioner’s office.

According to the state government, the newly inaugurated complex will facilitate better coordination among departments by consolidating major administrative functions within a single premises.

The government said the integrated office is expected to promote more efficient, responsive and citizen-focused administration while reducing the need for residents to visit multiple locations to access government services.

The new Kamrup (Metropolitan) DC office is also being positioned as part of the state’s larger effort to modernise administrative infrastructure and improve the delivery of public services across Assam.
