Dhubri: A contractual teacher from West Bengal has been arrested in Assam’s Dhubri district for allegedly attempting to secretly record a college student while she was inside a bathroom.
The accused has been identified as Indrajit Sinha, who was working as a contractual teacher at a Sanskrit education centre operated by the Central Government in Dhubri. He had been staying in a rented accommodation in the Pyari Mohan Lane area of Dhubri town.
According to the complaint lodged by the student’s family, a college student residing in a nearby rented house was allegedly targeted by Sinha, who is accused of using his mobile phone to record her without her knowledge while she was in the bathroom.
The accused was reportedly caught during the alleged act, following which the matter was brought to the attention of the student’s family and the police.
Acting on the complaint, personnel from Dhubri BN College Nagar Police arrested Sinha and launched an investigation into the allegations.
The accused was subsequently produced before a Dhubri court. Following the hearing, the court remanded him to judicial custody.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and determine whether any additional evidence or offences are involved.
The case has raised concerns over privacy and safety, while further details are expected to emerge as the police investigation progresses.
