Inaugurating the oxygen generating plant, Sarma said that this oxygen generating plant is a great news for the State. “MMCH requires 50 oxygen cylinders per day and as this plant has the capacity to fill 100 cylinders, there will be no shortage of oxygen from now,” he said.

On April 28, two oxygen generating plants were inaugurated in Dibrugarh and earlier there were eight oxygen plants in Assam, and with today’s oxygen plant, the State now has a total of 11 oxygen plants.

With the 11th oxygen generating plant, the State’s capacity to produce oxygen has ramped up to 68.7 MT per day, said Sarma on Twitter.

It may be mentioned, Assam is getting ready to inaugurate two more new oxygen plants in Silchar and this will bring the total count to 13 oxygen generating plants in the State.

Meanwhile, Assam on Thursday reported 3,079 fresh cases and 26 deaths in the last 24 hours. Kamrup Metro District alone has recorded 1,029 cases.
