Second State Capital Region Development Authority to Oversee Planned Growth

GUWAHATI, July 10: The Assam Government has announced the creation of the Second State Capital Region (SCR) at Dibrugarh, marking a significant step towards balanced regional development and strengthening infrastructure in Upper Assam.

As part of the initiative, the government has approved the establishment of the Second State Capital Region Development Authority (SCRDA)-Dibrugarh, which will oversee planning and development within a 20-kilometre radius of the Dibrugarh Capital Complex, covering areas within the territorial limits of Dibrugarh district.

Rs. 500 Crore Earmarked for Infrastructure Development

To support the growth of the newly created capital region, the government will allocate Rs. 500 crore over the next five years for infrastructure augmentation and developmental initiatives.

The allocation will be in addition to regular development projects already being implemented in the region and is aimed at improving civic infrastructure, enhancing public services, and accelerating planned urban development.

Boost to Regional Growth

The creation of the Second State Capital Region is expected to transform Dibrugarh into a major administrative and economic hub, promote planned urban expansion, attract investments, and drive long-term socio-economic development in Upper Assam.
