Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled a new scholarship initiative called the “Scholarship Program for Technical Education And Recognition” (STAR) as part of its Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP). The program aims to support underprivileged students who have completed 10th standard but are unable to pursue higher studies in technical institutes. This pilot program will benefit students across 11 states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The announcement event for the scholarship program was attended by Jayanta Mallabaruah, the Minister of Public Health Engineering, Skill Development Employment Entrepreneurship, and Tourism of the Assam government, along with Vikram Gulati, the Country Head and Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah commended the T-TEP initiative, a collaboration between Toyota Kirloskar Motor and the Indian government’s “Skill India Mission,” which aims to provide valuable skill development opportunities to Indian students. He highlighted that TKM is currently offering scholarships to 14 technical education institutions across 11 states, with a focus on 7 institutions in the North East region. Mallabaruah expressed his belief that this scholarship program will greatly benefit deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to gain knowledge in advanced technologies and best practices.

The STAR initiative by TKM aims to provide a platform for talented individuals to enhance their skills and knowledge in advanced automotive technologies to meet the growing demands of the sector. The scholarships will cover hostel fees, educational expenses, and provide support to the families of students from financially challenged backgrounds. The program also emphasizes women empowerment by offering a 30 percent reservation for female students. The selection process involves a written test and an interview with eligible students. Upon completion of the TTEP curriculum, students enrolled in the STAR program will undergo internships at Toyota dealerships for a minimum period of 6 to 12 months.

Vikram Gulati, the Country Head and Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, highlighted that through the STAR program, they aim to empower deserving students, especially those from financially challenged backgrounds, by providing scholarships and equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for a career in the automotive sector. He emphasized TKM’s commitment to the “Skill India Mission” and their dedication to nurturing talent and empowering students.
