Assam: Local Holiday for Holi on March 10

The Kamrup (M) District administration has declared a local holiday on March 10.

In a notification the administration said, “To enable the people to celebrate the festival of color, Holi in reference to the wishes expressed from various quarters, seeking to declare March 10 as a holiday to enable the government employees and teachers to visit their native places to celebrate the festival.”

All state government offices, schools, colleges including all financial institutions will be closed on March 10.

Meanwhile, Kamrup (M) district administration has declared dry day on March 9 in view of the “Holi Festival”.

A notification was issued by the administration it stated “In exercising power conferred under section 52 (1) of Assam excise Act, 2000, the undersigned hereby declares the closure of all the retail IMFL “ON”/”OFF”/Club” licenses and the country sprits shops in Kamrup Metropolitan District on 9th March 2020 till 4:00 PM. of the day for preservation of public peace in view of the “Holi Festival.”

Any violation of the order shall be dealt with under the relevant provision of the Assam Excise Act and Rules to respective Constituencies
