Ayushmann Khurana appointed as celebrity advocate for children’s rights campaign by UNICEF

On Friday, UNICEF announced on their social media account that Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurana will be their official celebrity advocate for children’s right campaign. The actor will join hands with football star David Beckham, who works on this particular campaign globally. And Khurana particularly will be seen working towards this initiative in India.

Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque, UNICEF representative of India in the recent video said that they are estatic to have Ayushmann on board and believe that his support will help bring change in the system. “He will bring sensitivity, passion and a powerful voice for every child, with a specific focus towards ending violence against children. Ayushmann’s support will help increase awareness about this important issue, especially now COVID-19 heightening the risk of violence and abuse against children due to the extended lockdown and the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic”, Dr Yashmin quoted.

Ayushmann Khurana, who is father of two children himself with wife Tahira Kashyap in his Instagram video said that he is delighted to be part of UNICEF as every children deserves the best childhood in their life. Khurana further added, “As I watch my children play in the safety and happiness of our home, I think about all the children who never get to experience a safe childhood and grow up with violence at home or outside. With UNICEF I look forward to supporting the rights of the most vulnerable children, so that they grow up happier, healthier, educated citizens in nurturing environments free from violence”.
