Baksa, July 24: Political activity is rising in BTR even though the election date for the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) has not been announced yet.
At a public meeting in Barapeta Milanbazar, Mathanguri, Raijor Dal president and MLA Akhil Gogoi strongly criticized the BJP stating that “If BPF and UPPL come together, we can easily remove BJP from BTR. The BJP should not be allowed here.”
“If UPPL and BPF come together, what is the need for BJP? The BJP will only create division and destroy BTR like before. It will consume everyone—UPPL, BPF—just like it always does. If BJP is allowed to enter, the situation before 2014 will return. That’s why BJP must be removed from BTR at all costs, he said.
“”I urge both UPPL and BPF—if the leadership of BTR is to remain with the Bodo people, then the BJP must be removed from the region. Don’t encourage BJP. Everyone must unite and drive the BJP out,” he added.
Stating that BJP only creates problems, he said, If it stays in BTR, it will destroy everything. Everyone must unite to remove the BJP,”.
He added that Raijor Dal will contest the upcoming BTC elections. Gogoi said his party will fight a few seats in BTC to raise the voice of indigenous Assamese-speaking people and protect their land and rights.
