PALASBARI, April 26:In a swift and well-coordinated operation carried out under the guidance of the Boko–Chhaygaon Co-District Superintendent of Police, Jan Kishore Gogoi, police teams from multiple stations successfully rescued two kidnapped persons and arrested five accused involved in a ransom-based abduction case late last night.
According to official sources, on Saturday at around 11:30 PM, information was received from Noonmati Police Station by Officer-in-Charge Inspector Uttam Tamang regarding the kidnapping of Md. Sanidul Ali (24). The victim had allegedly been abducted by unidentified miscreants and taken towards the Sontoli area. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh and threatened to kill him if their demand was not met.
Acting promptly, a joint operation was launched by police teams from Sontoli, Topamari, Mandira and Chamaria Police Stations under close supervision. The operation was supported by technical inputs and assistance from local sources.
During the operation, a suspected vehicle — a Maruti Swift (AS-01FT-9573) was intercepted at Selosuti Mathauri. Upon interception, five individuals were apprehended. The arrested accused have been identified as Abu Jobayer Akond (24) of Chamariapam, Sajid Ali (23) of Mahtoli, Haidar Ali (20) of Goroimari Bilorjan, Rakibul Alamin (19) of Uttar Mahtoli, and Noor Islam (19) of Hahchari.
Police also rescued two victims from the custody of the accused: Md. Sanidul Ali of Nijarapar under Noonmati Police Station and Imdadul Hoque (28) of Kalgasia in Barpeta district. Both had been wrongfully confined for the purpose of extorting ransom.
A case has been registered, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. Police stated that further investigation is underway to identify additional associates and uncover the full details of the kidnapping network.
