BORNALI GOGOI: FIRST WOMAN FROM ASSAM TO BECOME IAF WING COMMANDER

GUWAHATI: Bornali Gogoi who hails from Assam’s Lakhimpur district has been commissioned as the wing commander of Indian Air Force (IAF). Bornali is the first woman from Assam to be commissioned as the wing commander of the IAF.

Gogoi joined the IAF as a pilot officer on May 27 in 1996. Later she was promoted to flying officer and flying lieutenant. Recently, Bornali Gogoi has been promoted as the wing commander of the IAF.

She bagged 16th position in the matriculation exams in 1985. Bornali Gogoi completed her higher secondary (Science) from Cotton College. Gogoi did engineering in electronics and telecommunication from Assam Engineering College becoming first class first.

Later, she also did her M.Tech from Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
