Central Bureau of Communication organises outreach programme on 150 years of Vande Mataram and Empowerment of Women at Bajali

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field office Barpeta, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized an impactful outreach programme today at Sarupeta in Bajali district. The programme focused on the themes of 150 years of “Vande Mataram” and Empowerment of Women.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local residents who actively engaged in various activities. The programme included singing of “Vande Mataram” and a rally near the venue to commemorate the timeless message of unity and devotion to the motherland.

In addition to these initiatives, an on-the-spot quiz competition was also organized, further enhancing community participation. Artistes from private registered troupes presented vibrant and creative performances that effectively conveyed the core messages of the campaigns in an engaging and impactful manner.

The programme was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Sh. Nirmal Das, Assistant BDO, Bhawanipur Development Block, Sh. Kuldip Pathak, District Project Assistant, POSHAN, Social Welfare Department, Bajali, Sh. Prabodh Kalita, Associate Professor, HoD, Economics Department, BHB College, Sarupeta and Dr. Bhiba Bharali, Professor, Department of Assamese, Gauhati University.

Addressing the gathering, Sh. Prabodh Kalita highlighted the historical significance of “Vande Mataram”. He stated that the year 2025 marks 150 years of the immortal national song penned by Bankimchandra Chatterji. He further emphasized that the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” aim to foster a nationwide movement reconnecting citizens with the song’s original revolutionary spirit.

The outreach programme successfully reinforced the objectives of national integration, cultural heritage, and women empowerment, while strengthening public awareness and participation at the grassroots level.
