Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) from Guwahati with the help of Assam Forest and Police department officials nabbed three persons involved in trading of wildlife organs at Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary this afternoon and seized dried skin and other organelle of a fully grown Royal Bengal tiger.
The officials following a tip-off intercepted the traders at Jonai Nepali village in Dhemaji near Ruksin gate (Arunachal) and caught the wild traders at around 4.00 pm today. The trio brought the tiger organs wrapped in a plastic gunny bag in a Hundai EON car. The police also seized the car having registration no. AR-09 A-8046 used by the offenders.
The trio was identified as Taying Joshi (driver) of Nari, Tajing Jomyong (53) of Kebang and Jobang Paro (51) of Kaying (presently residing at Ruksin), all from Arunachal Pradesh.

The three have presently been kept at Jonai (Assam) police, where they are being interrogated by the police and forest officers. The trio admitted before the officials that they bought the tiger skin and organs from a person at Tuting in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh and took it for selling to an interested party.

Value of the dried tiger skin and organs was said to be around Rs 40 lakh in the international market.

Informing about the modus operandi to trap the wildlife traders, Jonai Sub-divisional Police Officer Rituraj Doley said the WCCB officials had information about the wildlife organ trade. They later set up a trap to catch the traders at Assam-Arunachal boundary.

Earlier in August, 2017, the Dhemaji Police posted at Simenchapori had caught two Arunachali persons on the national highway and seized a huge consignment of wild animal organs including 43 heads of deer, hornbill beaks besides other endangered animal body parts from their possession.
