Do Your Homework First: Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah Slams False Allegations by Gaurav Gogoi

Dispur, December 26: A political controversy surfaced on X after Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi made a statement alleging communal misconduct and corruption, incorrectly linking an incident of vandalism at a school to Nalbari and targeting Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Baruah.

Responding to the allegation, Minister Baruah clarified that the incident did not take place in Nalbari, but in the Tihu Constituency. He said that making such claims without verifying even basic electoral and geographical facts is unfortunate, especially coming from the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. According to the Minister, reckless statements only dilute the seriousness of such incidents and reflect political desperation rather than responsible leadership.
Speaking to the media, Minister Baruah pointed out that the matter was dealt with swiftly under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He stated that the Assam Police acted without delay, identified the miscreants involved, and took strict action as per law. He reaffirmed that the Government remains firm in its commitment to maintaining peace, communal harmony, and the safety of all institutions and citizens across Assam.
Rejecting the allegations made by Gaurav Gogoi, Minister Baruah said that Assam deserves leaders who respect facts, act responsibly, and uphold constitutional values, rather than those who jump to conclusions and conduct “trials on social media” based on misinformation.
