The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), North East Regional Office, Guwahati has inaugurated 26 days Micro Skillpreneurship Development Program on Handloom for rural women at Morongabari, Barkhat, Kamrup, Assam
The program is supported by Accenture and it aims to empower and support women in rural communities by providing them with the necessary skills and technical know how to start their own businesses. The Microskill Entrepreneurship Development Program will offer training in technical know how on Handloom, Jacquard Machine, Design development, business management, financial literacy, marketing strategies, and access to microloans for the participants followed by the handholding support to create individual as well as group enterprises. By equipping women with these essential skills and resources, the program aims to create sustainable economic opportunities that will benefit not only the individual entrepreneurs but also their families and communities. EDII in support with Accenture believe that investing in women’s entrepreneurship is critical for sustainable development in rural areas.
Mr. Ratan Guha, Program Manager, EDII has stated that “This initiative supported by Accenture targeting marginalised group is a significant step towards empowering our women and creating more inclusive economic opportunities in our communities.
Furthermore, he added that this program aligns with our commitment towards sustainable development and gender equality. By equipping these women with valuable skills, we are not only giving them the opportunity to generate income but also enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their families’ well-being and overall community development. Through this initiative, we also aim to foster a culture of entrepreneurship among rural women. We believe that by instilling confidence and providing support through mentoring and networking opportunities, these women will be able to unleash their potential and become successful entrepreneurs.
