MUMBAI: In a bizarre incident, several girls from a hostel in Maharashtra were allegedly forced to strip and even made dance by policemen. According to reports, answering to BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the state government has formed a high-level committee to conduct a probe into an incident. Reportedly, the victims from a hostel in Jalgaon complained that people from outside and policemen were allowed to enter the facility on the pretext of a probe and few girls were forced to strip and dance.

A video clip of the same has also surfaced on the internet which is now questioned by the netizens with regards to the safety of girls in Maharashtra. Taking a dig at the Anil Deshmukh, BJP leader Mungantiwar said the incident is very serious and called for stricter action. Meanwhile, the home minister announced in the state Assembly that- “All information about the incident is being taken. The entire video recording and other documents are sought and statements are being recorded.”

On the other hand, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said there is a video clip (of the incident) and it would have been a different case had it been just a news report. The video clip of a girl being forced to dance after stripping her is a serious matter, he said. “Our expectation is that you take immediate action sensitively,” the leader of opposition said. On the other hand, earlier on February 21, a sexual assault complaint lodged by an IPS officer that led to the Tamil Nadu government removing a Special DGP from his post.

Reportedly, the incident occurred on the Trichy-Chennai highway when the accused Special DGP, Rajesh Das was on his way back to Chennai after a “VIP duty” who invited her to join him in the car, which was nothing unusual order, according to a senior official. However, after 40 mins of the drive when the car stopped, the woman officer rushed out from the right side of the car and she was literally running for 15-20 metres when her own official car was far behind.

Further, the woman officer, requested IPS officer Ziaul Haque, who was waiting to receive Rajesh Das, for his car and without speaking about the incident to any of them she went away. A statement from the IPS association said it stands in solidarity against any harassment at the workplace. “We request the inquiry committee to do justice by a free, fair and expeditious inquiry with sensitivity involved,” the association said.
