Govt. Threatens, Teachers Participate In ‘Dispur Chalo’

Even after the Assam government’s threatening, the TET qualified teachers have come out to take part in ‘Dispur Chalo’, a protest against the government demanding regularisation of their contractual jobs, against all odds.

The epicentre of the protest is the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara from where the rally is scheduled to march to Dispur.

It may be noted that the Government has threatened the working teachers that action will be taken against those who make “derogatory/unconstitutional/defamatory” comments against ministers and government officials on social media as per provisions of the IT Act (Sections 66A and B, dealing with defamation).

This statement was scribed in the minutes of the meeting between the Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattarcharya and Sodou Axom TET Uttirna Sikshak Samaj on Thursday.

On the other hand, an internal rift has broken out among the protesting TET qualified teachers following the resignation of the president of All Assam Primary TET Teachers Association (AAPTTA) from his post on Friday.

AAPTTA president Padmalochan Doley alleged that the secretary of the organisation has been leading the teachers with his ‘obstinacy’. Doley also urged the TET qualified teachers not to participate in the forthcoming ‘Dispur Chalo’ demonstration programme.

Meanwhile, in a major breakthrough, the SC-ST TET Teachers’ Association has also decided not to take part in the ‘Dispur Chalo’ programme. The organisation also decided to withdraw their support to the protest. It may be mentioned here that AAPTTA had not invited any representative from the SC-ST TET Teachers’ Association to take part in the meeting with Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya. Thus the SC-ST TET Teachers’ Association has decided to boycott the ongoing protest.
