Gujarat’s Nandini Patel Emerges as a Miss Grand India Finalist

By Sam.

Guwahati: Nandini Patel, a proud daughter of Gujarat, is redefining the intersection of intellect, elegance, and resilience. Hailing from Mehsana and currently balancing a dual career as a lawyer and professional model, Nandini has emerged as a national finalist for Miss Grand India—a journey she describes as “transformative” and deeply humbling.

“I was born in Mehsana, Gujarat,” Nandini Patel shares, proudly grounding her identity in her home state. Her academic journey reflects a rich foundation—having studied at KV ONGC in Chandkheda before pursuing a B.Sc in Statistics from St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, followed by a degree in Law (LLB) from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Currently practicing as a lawyer while also walking national fashion runways, Nandini’s journey into modeling began just after finishing her 12th grade. “I shifted to Mumbai to pursue modeling professionally, and it’s been three years now,” she says. “I’ve had the opportunity to walk for Bombay Times Fashion Week, Pune Times Fashion Week, and even Lakmé Fashion Week.”

Coming from a disciplined background—her father having served in the Paramilitary—Nandini credits her mother for being the emotional backbone in a profession that often comes with societal skepticism. “Initially, it was difficult, but my mother has always stood by me. Her constant support and belief in me made all the difference.”

On her journey with Miss Grand so far, Nandini reflects: “The Miss Grand journey has been one of the most transformative highlights of my life—mentally, emotionally, and physically. Every day, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences and opportunities this platform has brought to me.”

Now, as a finalist representing Gujarat on a national stage, Nandini Patel carries the weight of both responsibility and aspiration. “Each day is a new opportunity to make a difference—not just for myself, but also for the community around me. That, to me, is the spirit of Miss Grand,” she expresses.

Outside the glitz and courtrooms, Nandini holds a profound interest in warfare history, cultural anthropology, and human behavior. “Human behavior and the complexity of social structures deeply fascinate me,” she says, highlighting her intellectual curiosity beyond fashion and law.

Representing Gujarat at a national level comes with a deep-rooted cultural responsibility—something Nandini takes to heart. “I want to bring forward the authenticity of Gujarat—beyond the common stereotypes,” she emphasizes. “There’s a rich history, vibrant culture, and deep-rooted traditions that deserve to be seen and celebrated on a national stage.”

To her fellow Gujaratis, Nandini Patel sends a heartfelt message: “I want to tell them that I will always stay true to my roots and values. I aim to make them proud and ensure that when they see me, they connect with the true essence of Gujarat—kindness and strength.”

When asked about her greatest source of inspiration, she takes a holistic view. “Every individual around me inspires me. Seeing people create their own realities and push through challenges daily motivates me. I learn and admire every little act of progress—no matter how small.”

Of course, the road to the Miss Grand India stage hasn’t been without its obstacles. Nandini candidly shares, “The biggest challenge has been challenging myself—to face areas I needed to grow in. This journey has been a period of intense self-reflection and personal evolution.”

As for her preparation ahead of the national competition, Nandini’s discipline echoes through her routine. “I strive to become better each day. Even on the hard days, I show up—whether it’s at the gym or in class. This commitment not only builds my physical strength but also fosters emotional resilience and mental balance.”

With her feet planted in Gujarati soil and her aspirations soaring on a national stage, Nandini Patel is more than just a finalist—she’s a force of intellect, identity, and inspiration, setting an example for countless young women across the country.
