Guwahati, August 4: Renowned Punjabi singer and songwriter Guru Randhawa has extended support to flood-affected communities in Assam by contributing ₹5 lakh towards ongoing relief efforts in the state’s worst-hit regions.
The contribution has been routed through popular Assamese digital creator Dimpu Baruah, who, along with his team under the Hello Life Foundation, has been actively involved in relief and rehabilitation activities across flood-ravaged areas of Upper Assam. The initiative aims to ensure transparent and direct assistance reaches those most affected by the disaster.
The Hello Life Foundation has already raised more than ₹16.64 lakh through public contributions. The team is scheduled to visit flood-affected districts in mid-August 2026 to distribute aid, including food, clothing, medical supplies and direct financial assistance to displaced families.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), as of August 2, 2026, the devastating floods have claimed 82 lives, while around 1.78 lakh people remain affected across seven districts of the state.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Assam, Guru Randhawa said, “The devastation in Assam is heartbreaking, and we cannot let our brothers and sisters fight this crisis alone. While rescue teams and administrative authorities are doing their best, I appeal to everyone nationwide to pitch in and support the recovery.”
Guru Randhawa’s latest contribution adds to his record of supporting humanitarian causes during times of crisis. During the Punjab floods in 2025, he established relief camps in Dera Baba Nanak and Dharowali, providing cattle feed, supporting the reconstruction of damaged homes and assisting farmers with premium wheat seeds to help restore their livelihoods.
Earlier, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the singer had contributed ₹20 lakh from his personal savings to the PM-CARES Fund and has consistently supported initiatives focused on education and youth welfare.
The relief effort in Assam has witnessed support from several prominent personalities and organisations across the country. Actors, content creators, business leaders and public figures, including Kartik Aaryan, Aamir Khan, Ananya Birla, Ayushmann Khurrana, Randeep Hooda, CarryMinati, Gautam Adani, Sajjan Jindal, Badruddin Ajmal, Triggered Insaan and Aaryan Kelvin, among others, have contributed funds and essential supplies to aid flood-hit communities.
With relief operations continuing on the ground, contributions from individuals and organisations across India are providing much-needed support to thousands of families working to rebuild their lives after one of Assam’s most severe flood disasters in recent years.
