Heavy Rainfall Leaves Guwahati Streets Waterlogged Again

Guwahati: Heavy rainfall once again triggered severe waterlogging across several parts of Guwahati, causing major inconvenience to commuters and residents on Sunday.

Several low-lying areas of the city witnessed flooded roads following continuous rain, leading to traffic congestion and slow movement of vehicles. Commuters were seen struggling to navigate through waterlogged streets as rainwater submerged key roads in different localities.

Visuals from multiple parts of the city showed two-wheelers, cars, and public transport vehicles moving through knee-deep water, while pedestrians faced difficulties reaching their destinations.

Residents expressed frustration over the recurring urban flooding issue, alleging inadequate drainage infrastructure and poor water management despite repeated incidents during the monsoon season.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in parts of Assam over the coming days, raising concerns of further waterlogging in vulnerable areas of Guwahati.

Authorities are reportedly monitoring the situation, while civic teams have been deployed in some areas to clear blocked drains and ensure water recedes quickly.
