IIIT Guwahati Celebrates its 7th Convocation Ceremony, Hon’ble Governor of Assam Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya was the Chief Guest and Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain was the Guest of Honor.
June 20, 2025: The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIITG) hosted its 7th Convocation Ceremony on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the prestigious Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium, IIT Guwahati. The event marked a celebration of academic excellence, perseverance, and new beginnings for the graduates.
Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, Former Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Satyabrata Dey, Managing Director of Sreeleathers Ltd., Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG) IIITG hosted the event.
The event conferred degrees on 264 graduates across its diverse academic programs. The degrees include PhD, M. Tech and B. Tech in (a) Computer Science and Engineering and (b) Electronics and Communication Engineering.
During the convocation, the institute awarded two medals for academic excellence. Arijeet Pramanik, Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering, received the President’s Medal for achieving the highest CPI score among the graduating batch of 2024. Roushan Maharana, in Electronics and Communication Engineering course, was awarded the Chairman’s Medal.
Delivering the Convocation Address, Hon’ble Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya praised the accomplishments of the graduates and highlighted India’s growing global presence in the digital and tech sectors. He expressed confidence that the graduating students will actively contribute to the building of society and the nation. The Hon’ble Governor lauded IIIT Guwahati for its contributions to research, digital development, and entrepreneurship in the Northeast region.
Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, the Guest of Honor, offered his guidance and wisdom, highlighting learning as a lifelong process and advising students to nurture relationships as they navigate their personal and professional journeys. Chairman of IIITG, Shri Satyabrata Dey, inspired graduates to learn from failures and reminded of their power to shape the future. Prof. Sarat Kumar Patra, Director of the institute, congratulated the graduates and presented the concise overview of the institute’s endeavors and progress in the past academic year.
The 7th Convocation concluded on a note of celebration and optimism, marking a new chapter in the lives of its graduates.
