Jamui case: Main accused shot in leg during police encounter
The main accused in the Jamui minor harassment case was reportedly shot in the leg during a police encounter on Tuesday, September 22. The accused, identified as Nandan Yadav, was injured during the confrontation with police and was taken for medical treatment, according to reports.
The development comes days after a video showing the alleged harassment and assault of two Class 10 students in Jamui went viral on social media. Police said the incident took place on September 19 when the two teenagers were returning from an outing near Mawara Hill.
Police had earlier identified around seven suspects in connection with the incident and arrested three people. An SIT headed by Jamui SDPO Deepti Monali was formed to trace the remaining accused and investigate the case.
The case was registered under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have also urged the public not to circulate the video involving the minor victim. A separate case has reportedly been registered against around 120 social media profiles for sharing the video and revealing the identity of the minor.
The investigation into the incident and the police encounter is ongoing.
