Senior Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah attended the official distribution of seed capital cheques under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) scheme in the Bhergaon Legislative Assembly constituency. Sharing the update on his official Facebook page, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and self-reliance.
The programme was held in the presence of BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary, Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, and fellow cabinet minister Charan Boro. During the event, eligible members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from the Bhergaon constituency were formally provided seed capital cheques of ₹10,000 each.
Jayanta Malla Baruah said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the NDA-led Assam government has been working relentlessly to make women self-reliant and improve their standard of living. As part of this continued effort, a total of 27,553 eligible women members from the Bhergaon constituency received financial assistance under the MMUA scheme.
Expressing optimism, the minister stated that with the combined efforts of the Assam Government and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), women in the Bodo region would soon achieve economic self-sufficiency and make meaningful contributions to the state’s economy.
The event, held at the Bhergaon District Stadium in Udalguri, BTR, was also attended by executive members of BTC, council representatives, and other distinguished personalities.
