Jayanta Malla Baruah Distributes Cheques to Tea Workers under ‘Mukhyamantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat’ Scheme in Tamulpur

Reaffirming the Assam Government’s commitment to the welfare of tea garden workers, cheques were distributed today under the flagship scheme “Mukhyamantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat” to workers and employees of Nagrizuli and Menka tea estates in Tamulpur district.

Assam Cabinet Minister and Tamulpur’s Guardian Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah attended the programme held at Nagrizuli Tea Garden, while the distribution at Menka Tea Garden was attended by BTC Deputy Chief Bijit Goura Narzary and local MLA Jalen Daimary.

The programme began with the live viewing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat”, followed by a virtual broadcast of the central event of the scheme from Tinsukia, addressed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. District Commissioner Simi Karan, in her welcome address at Nagrizuli, congratulated all the beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, Jayanta Malla Baruah spoke on several key welfare initiatives, including land rights for tea garden workers, supply of essential commodities at subsidised rates, inclusion of 2,000 additional beneficiaries under the Arunodoy scheme, and the allocation of 50 bighas of land for setting up a degree college in the area. He reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure dignity, security, and long-term development for the tea community.

Under the scheme, one-time financial assistance of ₹5,000 each was provided to 1,053 tea workers of Nagrizuli Tea Garden and 782 tea workers of Menka Tea Garden, benefiting a total of 1,835 tea workers in the district.

The programme at Nagrizuli was also attended by BTC Executive Member Lakhi Das, Senior Superintendent of Police Taburam Pegu, and other officials. At Menka Tea Garden, several dignitaries and officials were present.
