Jayanta Malla Baruah Praises Himanta Biswa Sarma’s 25-Year Political Journey

GUWAHATI: Senior Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah has publicly expressed deep admiration for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the latter completed 25 years as a Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Baruah described the milestone as “a testament to consistency, resilience, and leadership,” while reflecting on his decades-long personal and political association with the Chief Minister.

Baruah traced their relationship back to their student politics days. While he served as General Secretary of B. Borooah College, Sarma had already established himself as a three-time General Secretary of Cotton College. Calling those years “formative,” the minister highlighted how their bond evolved beyond politics into a relationship grounded in mentorship and mutual respect.

The minister also acknowledged the influence of former Chief Minister Hiteshwar Saikia during their early political journey. However, much of his message centered on Sarma’s role as a guide and mentor in his own political career.

Baruah revealed that when he entered active politics and became an MLA in 2011, he actively sought Sarma’s guidance. He credited the Chief Minister’s administrative insight, clarity of thought, and discipline for shaping his understanding of governance and public service.

Political observers note that the tone of Baruah’s message reflects strong admiration and loyalty toward Sarma’s leadership. The repeated emphasis on mentorship, influence, and personal bonding underscores the deep political alignment and respect the minister holds for the Chief Minister.

Concluding his message, Baruah congratulated Sarma for completing 25 impactful years in the Assembly, stating that leadership is defined not merely by positions held, but by the inspiration and mentorship one offers to others.

The public praise once again highlights the strong camaraderie within the state’s ruling leadership and the central role Sarma continues to play in Assam’s political landscape.
