GUWAHATI, July 9: Panic spread on Kamakhya Temple Road early this morning after a man’s body was found near a restaurant.
Locals said they spotted the body in the early hours and informed the police right away.
Before the police reached the spot, some locals said they caught hold of a suspected person nearby. He was later handed over to the police for questioning.
The identity of both the deceased and the detained person is yet to be confirmed.
Police have started an investigation. The cause of death is not clear yet, and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Locals Speak Up
Some residents alleged that the police took time to arrive despite multiple calls. Police have not commented on this yet.
