Kaziranga Utsav starts from January 5

KAZIRANGA, Nov 23 – With an objective to showcase the great conservation story of Kaziranga and further highlight the different places of tourists interest in and around Kaziranga National Park, Kaziranga Utsav will be organised by the district administration of Golaghat and the Forest department of Kaziranga in association with the Assam Tourism Department at Kohora and Agaratoli from January 5-7, 2020.

Meanwhile, the official logo of ‘Kaziranga Utsav’ was formally launched by the State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora in the presence of Director of Kaziranga National Park-cum-Tiger Reserve P Shiva Kumar, and officials of the district administration.

Speaking to media persons after formally launching the logo of Kaziranga Utsav, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said that this would be a moment of pride for all the people of Assam, more specifically the people of Kaziranga, as this festival would attract more visitors to the national park. He said that the government of India has already selected Kaziranga as natural iconic tourists destination which meant there was a great potential to improve the socio-economic status of people of Kaziranga and adjoining areas.

Bora informed that there will be a technical session during the three days programme in which many vital issues including the man-elephant conflict will be discussed to get rid of the current crisis which has caused casualties to both people as well as elephants.

The Director of Kaziranga National Park-cum-Tiger Reserve said that to protect Kaziranga and maintain its conservation, it was very important to conserve Kaziranga and the Karbi Anglong landscape. He added that during the three-day technical session, issues related to sustainable tourism as well as management of eco-tourism without any disturbance of the Kaziranga eco- system would be deliberated upon in which the views of local population of Kaziranga will also be taken into account.

Shiva Kumar also informed that research-oriented matters and suggestions and support would be sought from higher institutions like Assam Agricultural University and Tezpur University.

The SDO (Civil) of Bokakhat, Vivek Shyam requested all people of Kaziranga to actively participate in the Kaziranga Ustav for the betterment of all.(ASSAM TRIBUNE).
