Natya Aalo drama school marks first anniversary

PALASBARI, April 27:

The first foundation day of Natya Aalo – The Light of Drama School, located at Chhaygaon in Kamrup district, was celebrated on Sunday evening with a vibrant cultural programme.

The drama school was established in 2025 under the leadership of Hafiza Tiku, a student from Chhaygaon with a deep passion for art and culture. Marking the successful completion of one year, the institution organized a special ceremony within its premises.

The event began with a tribute to the late beloved artiste Zubeen Garg and noted cultural figure and journalist Sukumar Medhi. Floral tributes were offered and ceremonial lamps were lit in front of their portraits. This was followed by the ceremonial cake-cutting, accompanied by a rendition of Zubeen Garg’s timeless song Mayabini, formally inaugurating the cultural evening.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including actor and teacher Dwijen Sharma, Jainur Rahman, Nava Kalita, actress Tutumoni Kalita, young journalist Gagan Kalita, and playwright Tapan Thakuria, along with guardians, school officials, and a large number of students.

The cultural programme, which commenced in the evening, featured group dances, drama performances, songs, and various other presentations by the students of the institution, showcasing their talent and dedication.

The celebration highlighted the growing enthusiasm for theatre and cultural education in the region.
