Guwahati based nonprofit organisation Pedal for Change is organizing North-East Cycling Awards 2023 to recognize and honour Individuals who have done exceptionally well in different aspects of Cycling in North East India and Institutions / Organisations that encourage cycling in Guwahati. This prestigious event, taking place on November 4th, 2023, highlights individuals and institutions that have championed various aspects of cycling including as a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation, recreation, sports, entrepreneurship, innovation, etc.
Apart from keeping us healthy cycling is also a potent tool for climate change mitigation, reducing pollution and traffic congestion. Despite challenges like public perception and infrastructure, there’s a renewed interest in cycling. These awards aim to honor those who have played a vital role in advancing cycling in the region. It is expected that with such recognition and encouragement more people will be motivated to take up cycling or create facilities to encourage cycling.
To ensure a fair selection process we have formed a Jury panel comprising of esteemed personalities who are experts from various fields such as journalism, sports, medical science, engineering and urban planning.
The awards cover various categories, including Most Accomplished Sports Cyclist, Bicycle Innovator of the Year, Special Accomplishment in or using Cycles, Most Regular Cycle Commuter, Most Popular Cycle Store in NE, and Most Cycling Friendly Restaurant, School, College / University, Mall, Hotel, Company, Hospital in Guwahati.
Interested people or organisations are requested to nominate deserving candidates for the various award categories. The nomination or application process is fully online and all details are available in their website https://www.necyclingawards.in/.
The awards ceremony will be attended by elected public representatives, government officials, sports personalities, industry experts, and media figures. It aims to engage individuals across gender, age, and socioeconomic segments throughout the North-Eastern region.
Nominations for awards are now open and will close on September 30th, 2023. The Jury Assessment will take place in October 2023 and the Award Function will be held on November 4th, 2023 at a prominent hotel in Guwahati.
