GUWAHATI, July 11: The Old Saraighat Bridge will be closed to all vehicles from 5:00 AM on July 13 for repair work by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The closure is expected to last for two months.
During this period, all traffic will be diverted to the New Saraighat Bridge, where two-way movement will be allowed.
Traffic Diversion

Goods vehicles will not be permitted on the New Saraighat Bridge in Guwahati between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) travelling from Lower Assam to Upper Assam must use the New Saraighat Bridge. Commuters heading to Kamrup and Lower Assam can also continue to use the New Bridge.
Advisory
Traffic Police have asked people to use Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu as an alternative route and to leave early for the airport due to likely traffic congestion.
Parking will be prohibited between Jalukbari and the bridge.
Buses, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles will be allowed to use the New Saraighat Bridge.
The restrictions will remain in force till July 31, 2026, and will be reviewed thereafter.
