Prabhati Suruj felicitates meritorious HSLC students at Amtola

PALASBARI,May 11: In a commendable initiative, Prabhati Suruj, a leading socio-cultural organisation of 3 No. Amtola village under the Palasbari constituency in South Kamrup, organised a special felicitation programme for students who excelled in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination on Sunday.

The meeting held at the office premises of Prabhati Suruj, was presided over by the organisation’s president Manoj Kumar Das, while the welcome address was delivered by general secretary Pabitra Das. The programme was attended by several distinguished personalities including village development committee president Bhupen Das, former president Dhruba Narayan Das, managing director of Sankardev Vidya Mandir Lohit Das, noted social worker Jayanta Das, Maa Chandika Gaon Panchayat president Mallika Barman Medhi, social activist Ranjit Das, journalist Bhagaban Das, former secretary Krishna Das, Baloram Kaibarta and many others.

The felicitation ceremony, conducted jointly by journalists Biswajit Das, Prafulla Kumar Das and Hari Das, specially honoured students who secured distinction with letter marks in five subjects. Among those felicitated were Juman Saud, Tanmoy Das, Nilam Sarma, Juman Das, Ritumoni Das and Buddho Das. In addition, 15 economically disadvantaged students were also honoured during the programme.

The students were presented with certificates, traditional gamosa and cheleng chador, along with saplings and pens as symbols of encouragement towards education and environmental awareness.

On the occasion, young entrepreneur Biswajit Bishya awarded Rs 1,000 each from his personal contribution to every meritorious student. Village development committee president Bhupen Das also announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for any student from the village who secures 85 percent or above in the Higher Secondary final examination.

Addressing the gathering, former village development committee president Dhruba Narayan Das, educationist Lohit Das, youth representative Jayanta Das and Panchayat president Mallika Barman Medhi wished the students a bright future and assured continuous support to the younger generation in every possible field.
