MUMBAI: The much-awaited first song from Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic film ‘Ramayana’ has been released, giving audiences their first extended musical glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Rama and Sita.
Titled ‘Jai Jai Ram’, the devotional track was unveiled on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and marks the beginning of the film’s musical campaign. The song combines devotional elements with the scale and visual grandeur of the much-anticipated adaptation of the Ramayana.
The track has been composed by Oscar-winning music director A.R. Rahman, with lyrics penned by poet Dr Kumar Vishwas. Playback singers Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal have lent their voices to the song, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film’s soundtrack.
The song features several important moments from Rama and Sita’s story, including glimpses of their relationship and marriage, along with scenes depicting Rama’s journey and the events leading towards his exile. Ranbir Kapoor appears as Rama, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita.
The release has also generated considerable discussion on social media, with many viewers praising the visual treatment, cinematography and the performances of the lead actors. Some viewers also noted improvements in the film’s visual effects compared with earlier promotional material.
The song’s release comes after months of anticipation surrounding ‘Ramayana’, one of the most ambitious Indian film projects in recent years. The film has attracted attention not only for its star-studded cast but also for its large-scale production and international technical team.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, the film features Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol and other prominent actors also part of the ensemble cast. Nitesh Tiwari, known for films including ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chhichhore’, is directing the project.
The makers are reportedly presenting ‘Ramayana’ as a two-part cinematic adaptation. The first part is scheduled to arrive during the Diwali period in 2026, with the second part planned for a later release.
With ‘Jai Jai Ram’, the makers have now formally begun the film’s music campaign. The response to the first song is expected to add further momentum to the promotional build-up ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
