Gmail suffered an outage for several users in India causing errors and issues with attachments and log in. Most people encountered glitches when they tried to upload files on Gmail as well as Google Drive as both the Google-owned services suffered glitches.

According to DownDetector, Gmail and Google Drive issues were not only happening in India, but in other countries too, including Japan, Australia, Canada, and several others. Several Google Drive users were also unable to download or upload files.

Google, in its status page acknowledged the issue and wrote: “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly.”

The tech giant added, “We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:30 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.”

Some users said they were unable send emails altogether while some others said when they tried to attach a file, it showed a slow upload process. Even if it would complete, it would leads to an error message that read: “you need to check your network”. This is not the best time that the Google-owned emailing service and drive suffered a global outage as most people are working remotely, given the coronavirus pandemic situation and social distancing norms.
