Sivasagar: Allegations of irregularities in the distribution of flood relief assistance have surfaced from Sivasagar, where flood-affected residents have approached the District Commissioner seeking immediate intervention.
More than a hundred residents of Ward No. 10 in the Dikhowpariya area submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner, alleging that they have not received the ₹15,000 relief assistance reportedly sanctioned for flood-affected families.
The residents claimed that their locality remained submerged under floodwaters for nearly 10 to 12 days during the recent floods, causing significant hardship and disruption to daily life. Despite being severely affected, they alleged that they have been left out of the relief distribution process and are yet to receive any government assistance.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction, the flood-hit families questioned the manner in which the relief benefits were distributed and demanded a thorough review of the beneficiary list. They urged the district administration to ensure that all genuine flood victims receive the assistance they are entitled to.
The aggrieved residents have appealed to the authorities to investigate the matter and take necessary steps to provide relief to those who were affected by the floods but have allegedly been deprived of government support.
The district administration is yet to issue an official response regarding the allegations raised by the residents.
