Three people have been arrested in Bihar’s Jamui district after a video showing the alleged harassment and assault of two Class 10 students went viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on September 19 near Madwa Pahad, where the minor boy and girl had gone after attending coaching classes. While returning on a scooter, they were allegedly stopped by a group of youths.
The viral footage purportedly shows the two students being surrounded, with the boy allegedly assaulted and the girl subjected to inappropriate physical contact. Police said investigators have identified around seven to eight people whose alleged involvement is being examined.
Jamui Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A Special Investigation Team headed by Jamui Sub-Divisional Police Officer Deepti Monali has been formed to investigate the case and trace the remaining suspects.
Police said the victims were traced after the video surfaced online, with investigators using the registration number of a vehicle visible in the footage to locate them.
Authorities have also initiated steps to remove the video from social media platforms and warned against sharing material that could reveal the identities of the minor victims.
The investigation remains underway, with police conducting raids to identify and arrest those still at large.
