Two ULFA-I Militants Surrender In Nagaland

Two ULFA-I cadres surrendered before Assam Rifles at Sanglangsu in the Mon district of Nagaland in the early hours of Friday morning.

As per reports, the surrendered ULFA-I cadres are identified as Nayan Jyoti Rajbanshi and Padam Gogoi. The two militants are residents of Baksa and Golaghat districts in Assam respectively.

According to reports, Rajbanshi had joined the militant outfit in the year 2011, while Gogoi had joined it in January 2020.

It may be mentioned, ULFA’s Commander for Western Command – Dwipen Saud was killed at Besimari in Assam’s Bongaigaon district in an encounter with Assam Police on Thursday morning.

The Director-General of Police in Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta took to Twitter to inform about the encounter.

Mahanta further said that Saud’s gunman Padum Rai was arrested alive with a weapon. Another weapon and a grenade were also recovered in the PO.

ULFA-I recently abducted three ONGC employees in Sivasagar, of which two abductees Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia were rescued on April 24. While the third abductee Retul Saikia is still under the custody of ULFA and the search operation to rescue him is carried forward.
