New Delhi: Two women from Assam and Nagaland were allegedly assaulted and harassed in Delhi’s Nehru Place area, sparking outrage and concern over the safety of people from the Northeast in the national capital.
According to reports, the incident took place when the two women were visiting the busy commercial hub in South Delhi. They were allegedly subjected to verbal abuse, harassment, and physical assault by a group of individuals.
The victims later approached the police and lodged a complaint regarding the incident. Authorities have reportedly initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify those involved.
The alleged incident has drawn sharp reactions from several organisations and social media users, many demanding strict action against the accused and better protection for people from the Northeast living in Delhi.
Police said further investigation is underway.
