GUWAHATI: A 21-year-old girl has been allegedly raped and murdered in Assam’s Udalguri district. The body of the victim was recovered from near a river at Gerugaon in Udalguri district.
Notably, after the recovery of the body of the victim, it was suspected that she had committed suicide. But, later bruises in different parts of her body including her face led to suspicion of rape and murder.
The family of the victim has registered an FIR with the Rowta Police Station, accusing Shalman Changma of the heinous crime.
It may be mentioned here that the victim was in a relationship with Shalman Changma, the accused. Notably, the victim went missing on December 28.
The family of the victim had searched the residence of the accused after she went missing but could not find her.
Changma’s family had at first denied that the victim was at their place. However, later Changma’s family admitted that the victim stayed at their residence.
Meanwhile, locals and family member of the victim have alleged that the police are yet to take any concrete step in the case. The locals also demanded for stern action against the accused if found guilty.
