GUWAHATI: UK Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India Dr Andrew Fleming arrived in Assam on Monday for his 10th visit to the state, describing the trip as an “anniversary visit”.
Fleming highlighted the growing presence of British infrastructure companies in Assam and said several leading UK firms are in the state this week.
During his visit, Fleming also praised the newly opened terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, drawing attention to the city’s expanding connectivity and infrastructure.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed Fleming and said the visit could mark a new chapter in strengthening ties between Assam and the United Kingdom.
The visit comes amid growing engagement between Assam and the UK in areas including infrastructure, investment and economic cooperation.
Fleming’s latest visit is expected to further strengthen institutional and commercial engagement between Assam and British stakeholders.
