Guwahati: In a powerful testament to dreams nurtured with perseverance, Vanlalnuntluangi, a young educator and multi-talented artist from Mizoram, has secured her place as a finalist in the Miss Grand India 2025 pageant. Representing her home state with quiet strength and unwavering dignity, she brings not only beauty and intellect but also a deep-rooted pride in her Mizo heritage.
Vanlalnuntluangi was born and raised in Aizawl, Mizoram, to parents H. Lalrindika and R. Vanlalruati. A passionate learner, she completed her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree. Her educational journey includes schooling at Govt. Mizo High School, higher secondary at Govt. Zemabawk Higher Secondary School, graduation from Pachhunga University College, and post-graduation at Mizoram University.
Professionally, she serves as an English teacher in the High School Section of Holy Cross School in Țhuampui, Aizawl. Despite her full-time commitment to education, her modeling journey has grown steadily over the years.
“I have had a few pageant experiences in the state level,” she shared. “Top 10 at Miss Chapchar Kût 2020, Top 10 at Miss PUC 2021, 1st Runners Up at MZU’s Miss Fresher 2022, Winner at MZU’s Miss Varsity 2023, and Top 2 at Femina Miss India Mizoram 2024.”
For Vanlalnuntluangi, family has been the bedrock of her journey. “My family has always been supportive in everything I do. They’ve accompanied me in my shows and shootings, given me advice and encouragements whenever needed. They are my safety net even when I fall, the light in my darkness.”
Speaking about her experience as Miss Grand Mizoram, she reflects with pride and emotion. “To think that someone who once lived in a farm in the outskirts of Aizawl is now Miss Grand Mizoram is proof that there is no such thing as too big of a dream. The love and support from my people can be felt from Day 1.”
Now a national finalist, she says, “I am full of excitement. I cannot wait to meet all of my pageant sisters, learn their stories and experience the Grand life together. I know that this is the stepping stone of my dream—to one day carry ‘India’ across my chest on an international stage.”
Outside of modeling, Vanlalnuntluangi is a creative powerhouse with an impressive range of hobbies. “I love learning new skills—crocheting, baking, cooking, dancing, glass painting, knitting, clay modeling. I even had a crocheting business to support my studies.”
Asked how she plans to showcase her culture on the national stage, her response was rooted in authenticity. “By living it. The teachings of Mizo, our vibrant cultures and traditions, are most valuable when someone lives by it. I aspire to inspire others of our traditions by being an example of it.”
Her message to the people of Mizoram is heartfelt: “I want to share this experience with you, my people, to show that no matter how big of a dream you have, even if it scares you, it is possible to be achieved. Dream big, let it scare you, but never stop fighting for it.”
She draws inspiration from those around her—particularly her support team and fellow participants. “The hardwork and perseverance of everyone involved in this Grand journey, from the Star EP Team to my Miss Grand Mizoram Team, has been immensely inspiring.”
Like many in the pageant world, time management has been a challenge. “The biggest challenge, for me, is managing everything in a short amount of time. But I have zero complaints because this is what I prayed for. What a privilege it is to be busy with the work you choose to do.”
Currently, she is undergoing physical, mental, and emotional training in preparation for the Miss Grand India stage. “I’ve been training with my gym partner at Monster Gym and following a healthy diet plan. This not only improved my physical fitness, but also strengthened me emotionally and mentally.”
As she stands poised to take the national stage, Vanlalnuntluangi is more than just a contestant—she’s a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, and a source of inspiration for many across Mizoram and beyond. Her journey serves as a reminder that no dream is too distant when it’s pursued with purpose, rooted in identity, and lifted by community.
