Visit of the All-Party Parliamentary Delegation to the Republic of Korea

Indian Parliamentary Delegation Begins Strategic Engagements in South Korea on Operation Sindoor

Seoul, May 27: An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha commenced its official engagements in the Republic of Korea (ROK) with a high-level briefing by India’s Ambassador to ROK, Mr. Amit Kumar. The ambassador outlined a Korea-centric approach to the scheduled meetings, placing emphasis on India’s unambiguous stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism, particularly in the context of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

The delegation met with members of the Indian diaspora in South Korea, offering a comprehensive overview of Operation Sindoor. During the interaction, members of the delegation detailed Pakistan’s involvement in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, characterizing it as a deliberate attempt to destabilize India and incite communal unrest. The delegation underscored that India’s response had been measured, precise, non-escalatory, and grounded in responsibility—reinforcing New Delhi’s commitment to combating terrorism through firm and principled action. They reiterated India’s longstanding position that dialogue and terror cannot go hand in hand.

In a series of substantive deliberations, the Indian delegation engaged with several senior Korean dignitaries, including former Foreign Minister Dr. Yoon Young-kwan, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Cho Hyun, former Ambassadors of ROK to India Mr. Shin Bong-kil and Mr. Lee Joon-gyu, Rep. Kim Gunn of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and Major General Shin Sang-gyun, Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Center.

During these high-level meetings, the delegation presented a detailed account of the Pahalgam attack and articulated India’s policy shift towards swift and proportionate retaliation under its “New Normal” doctrine. They called for stronger global action through platforms such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), asserting that there can be no distinction between terrorists and those who harbor or finance them.

The Korean leadership reiterated its strong opposition to terrorism and conveyed a clear understanding of India’s position.

The delegation is scheduled to continue its engagements tomorrow with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROK, members of the National Assembly, and representatives from prominent think tanks, followed by a media interaction to further underline India’s counter-terrorism narrative.
