A herd of wild elephants from the Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park strayed into village No. 9 Brahmapur under the Karigaon outpost in Kokrajhar district Saturday wee morning, around 3:30 PM and damaged three houses of one Sady Basumatary. While the property damage was extensive, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Local MLA Lawrence Islary rushed to the site and took stock of the situation. He interacted with the affected families and assured them of necessary support and relief measures.
Forest officials have also reached the area to assess the situation and initiate steps to prevent further incidents.
